Infinix introduces 260W wired and 110W wireless charging tech

Infinix takes the quest for ultra-fast charging to the next level with the 260W Wired and 110W Wireless All-Round FastCharge. This new solution can charge the battery from 0-25% in 1 minute over the wire and reach 100% within 8 minutes. Wireless can reach 0-100% in 16 minutes.

The 260W standard arrives just nine months after Infinix announced its 180W Thunder Charge. The new technology builds on that, upgrading from dual 8C batteries to a single 12C battery using a 4-pump circuit design that intelligently identifies power requirements and allocates the number of charge pumps required.

According to the official press release, the charging efficiency is 98.5%, and the 4,400 mAh test battery can retain 90% of its initial capacity after 1,000 cycles. The charger uses a combination of GaN materials and AHB circuit infrastructure for high power density, small size and safe charge control. Cables are also important, and Infinix has developed a cable that can draw up to 13A of current to guarantee his 260W charging.

110W wireless charging uses a custom-made small highly sensitive coil with a different architecture. There are fewer but wider coils in the same space to reduce internal resistance and keep the phone cooler when charging.

There is also a 110W custom made charger with dual coil design for both vertical and horizontal charging. The station adopts a fan in the base for better heat dissipation.

Besides the obvious wired and wireless charging, the standard also supports reverse charging, bypass charging and multi-protocol charging. Compatible with other protocols including Power Delivery 3.0.

The company has confirmed that the new tech will be featured in Infinix Note smartphones due out this year, so it should be in action soon.
