Grüneberg and Myers PLLC is Seeking a Ph.D. Chemical/Biotech Patent Attorney or Patent Agent – IPWatchdog.com

Grüneberg and Myers is a small, rapidly growing intellectual property law firm located in Tysons, Virginia. Our firm opens full-time positions for experienced patent attorneys or patent agents with substantial experience filing patent applications related to either the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, polymer, or specialty chemical fields. Main Responsibilities:

  • Examining U.S. patent applications at all stages, from filing to issuance, primarily in chemical technology
  • Convincingly defend client interests before patent examiners and administrative patent judges
  • Counseling clients on a wide range of issues, including examination strategy, operational freedom issues, cost optimization, and recent developments in US patent practice
  • work the hours necessary to fulfill the responsibilities of the position

Required qualifications:

  • 5-10 years of chemical patent prosecution experience, preferably in a law firm
  • Registration number for patent examination in the US Patent and Trademark Office
  • Licensed as a member of any US state bar (for attorneys)
  • PhD in chemistry, chemical engineering, biotechnology, or a closely related field
  • English fluency
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Eligibility to work in the USA
  • Be able to work full-time from our office in Tysons, Virginia (with continued concerns about COVID-19, you must also be able to work productively from home)

Preferential Eligibility:

  • Be fluent in French, German and/or Japanese
  • chemical industry experience
  • Teaching experience at postgraduate chemistry level
  • Degree from a highly ranked university and/or at least one university in Europe or Asia
