This study had limitations. Anxious animals with a small sample size, healthy dogs studied in the laboratory, the environment in which they were born and raised, a history of being protected, and unknown previous treatments that could have informed the condition. Current treatments are primarily behavioral and therapeutic, including SSRIs and antidepressants such as fluoxetine and clomipramine, benzodiazepines for short-term symptom management, and even CBD oil.
