We learned last year how NASA won a service contract for the design and manufacture of Axiom Space’s Artemis III spacesuit. NASA and Axiom have released a prototype of this costume.
Unveiled this Wednesday (March 15) at the Moon 2 Mars Festival at Space Center Houston, the spacesuit is known as the AxEMU (Axiom Extravehicular Mobility Unit). It is based on his earlier xEMU concept at NASA, which, like AxEMU, was designed primarily for use on the Moon.

The current prototype is covered with a dark gray cloth to hide the unique white material that reflects heat and protects astronauts from extreme heat. That said, the Artemis III mission aims to land astronauts near the south pole of a much colder moon in 2025.

Few technical details were provided, but NASA said: male and female populations. The suit is also designed to withstand damage from lunar dust, which has been a major problem in previous lunar missions.
Axiom plans to deliver a full fleet of training spacesuits to NASA by the end of this summer (northern hemisphere).
