- YouTube Music now automatically downloads recently played songs.

Almost all major music streaming services let you download songs for offline listening. YouTube Music offers a smart download mechanism that saves songs based on your preferences and listening history. The service has updated its offline mode with a new option to auto-download recently played songs.
If you’re stuck with YouTube Music’s $10 monthly subscription fee, you may now have access to a new feature in the app that lets you choose to automatically save recently played songs.
As 9to5Google first discovered (opens in new tab)The new option is[設定]go to the menu,[ダウンロードと保存]You can see it when you open the section. The “Recently Played” toggle is just below the “Smart Downloads” option.
However, unlike the smart download feature, this feature works even if the latter is turned off. For context, the existing option automatically downloads up to 500 songs by learning your listening habits.
The new feature, on the other hand, is designed to auto-download up to 200 recently played songs, as described in the feature description.
This type of automatic download option is useful if you have a habit of forgetting to save songs you’ve played in the last hour or so for offline listening until it’s too late. YouTube Music allows you to queue offline content without manually selecting it, but until now the app only allowed you to save recently played titles by tapping the Likes button.
For the time being, this option appears to be only available on Android. The new features were announced as part of the feature highlights for the February 2023 service. (opens in new tab)which is stated to have been rolled out on January 12.
However, 9to5 reports that it is now only visible to users. Given that many of its rivals like Spotify don’t currently have this feature, this is a welcome addition to the app’s feature set.
