When you think of Acer, you probably think of PCs. Whether it’s cheap beater laptops and tablets, slightly better but budget ultrabooks and gaming laptops, or weird swing-and-miss experiments. announced the The ebii is a lightweight e-bike that has nothing to do with a PC or tablet, except for the associated smartphone app.
We’ve reviewed e-bikes with stylish designs and attractive curvatures, but the ebii is decidedly practical. The thick ebii box in the center houses the control box, battery pack and headlights, while the seat and handlebars protrude upwards. Paying homage to its history as a PC and tablet maker, ebii’s 460W battery is removable and can be used as a portable charging station for your USB-C devices.
The ebii is light at just over 35 pounds (16 kg). The weight is partially reduced by using a cantilever fork on the front tire. Acer says it will accommodate most riders between 4.75 and 6 feet (145 to 185 cm) tall. That means especially taller riders probably won’t be comfortable.
Acer’s product photos don’t show the ebii’s built-in display, but there’s room to mount your phone between the handlebars.

The bike is described as “AI-driven”. It says it’s an ubiquitous marketing jargon about the current state of “AI” over bike capabilities. The ebii app claims:[adapt] While it wouldn’t be wrong to call these capabilities ‘AI-driven’, they technically fall under a more precise umbrella: ‘machine learning’.
ebii also uses a smartphone app for proximity-based locking and unlocking. The bike has GPS positioning, so it can be found even when swiped. Acer has announced that the ebii will have a “smart LED display” to display battery level and remaining range, but it’s not shown in the company’s photos. Some photos show a smartphone mounted between the handlebars. The ebii doesn’t have a built-in screen to display charge level or other features, but some photos show that information using the app.
Acer has not announced the price or release date of the ebii.
