When the credits roll for something amazing John Wick: Chapter 4the implicit question hanging in the air in my theater: “Did they really kill John Wick?”
We’ve just seen an extraordinary assassin (played by Keanu Reeves) kill the Marquis de Gramont (Bill Skarsgard) in a duel to win his freedom from the high table. But not long after, he falls bleeding on the steps of the Sacre Coeur in Paris. From there, the film cuts to an image of his tombstone. Bowery King (Laurence Fishburne) and Winston (Ian McShane) mourn him.They also have John’s Pitbull, so it seems he’s gone forever. there is always, but it is not John Wick: Chapter 4Instead of making fun of John coming back John Wick: Chapter 5the post-credits scene hints at something else: a new rivalry.

We see John’s old friend and antagonist Kane (Donnie Yen) arrive at the crowded Sacré-Coeur with a bouquet of flowers. He is there to see the violinist’s daughter. Hightable threatened to kill her daughter if Kane failed to bid. Like John, Kane was also freed from the high table after the duel so that he could finally approach his daughter without fear, though an open point he didn’t explain was his there is one.
While chasing John, Cain kills Shimazu (Hiroyuki Sanada), the manager of Osaka Continental. However, he captured Shimazu’s daughter Akira (Sawayama Rina) alive. Before she says goodbye to John, she makes it clear that either he kills Kane or she kills him.
A post-credits scene shows Akira preparing to fulfill that promise. She sacred her way through her cour temple clusters and headed for Kane with her cutter in hand. Immediately after Akira pulled out her blade, she cut it black, but the meaning is clear. Like John Wick in her first film, she seeks revenge.
So what happens next?Can Akira surprise Kane in the crowd? John Wick Kane and Akira-focused spin-offs related to or similar to upcoming films ballerina and TV series continental?
While it doesn’t have much of an impact on the franchise as a whole, this post-credits scene John Wick: Chapter 4: Those who live the life of an assassin can never be truly free. Both John and Kane are pulled out of their supposed retirement and forced into a bloody cycle of revenge. Kane calls the two of them “damns”, but Jon is repeatedly told that death is the only end of his path, and the only way he will find freedom.
Admittedly, this end credits scene could set up a sequel (no more saying no to Yen and Sawayama). Like Kane, you may think you are free and clear, but you are not.
