Back in 2020, Sony unveiled a 15.6-inch display that uses eye tracking and micro-optical lenses to deliver 3D visuals without the need for glasses or VR headsets. A 27-inch 4K model joins the Spatial Reality Display.
The new display works much like its predecessor, with a micro-optical lens above the LCD display panel to split the on-screen visuals between the viewer’s left and right eyes, and a new generation of vision sensors for facial recognition and tracking. It will be improved. As the user moves around, the system can dynamically adapt the image – up to 25 degrees left and right, 20 degrees up, and 40 degrees down.
The 3,840 x 2,160-pixel anti-reflective display is positioned at a 45-degree angle (although Sony says “actual effective stereoscopic resolution is less than 4K”), has a 14ms response time, and a 400 Manage nits. Brightness, 1,000:1 contrast, 6500-K color temperature.
It features HDMI 2.0 and USB-C ports for connecting to source computers, upscaling content from 2K to 4K, and 10-bit processing, plus Sony’s super-resolution algorithms from the Bravia display line to improve image quality and Optimize color reproduction. It can support 100% of the Adobe RGB color space.

Sony has also expanded its software development support. With its own SDK and Unity and Unreal Engine, the new display is compatible with Open GL, DirectX11/DirectX12, and Open XR, which will be released later this year. Alongside the Player app, which supports a number of 3D file formats, a new application is also being released that “allows users to easily find applications compatible with their displays, related cases and information.”
Designed for industrial designers, architects, engineers, software and game developers, and medical professionals, the ELF-SR2 will be available beginning in May at a suggested retail price of US$5,000, including a detachable stand. increase. There are more videos below.
Sony will bring the display to the National Association of Broadcasters Show in Las Vegas from April 16-19.
