Rak One serves as a bicycle floor stand, wall mount and repair stand

If you do a lot of cycling, we recommend that you park your bike horizontally on the floor, store it vertically against a wall, or use a repair stand to work with. Rak One is a single device that serves all three purposes.

Designed by Houston-based startup Rakstand, the Rak One is currently eligible for a Kickstarter campaign. The device consists of a tubular metal base to which hinged tubular metal arms are attached. This arm slides along the length of the base and can be locked at any point and angle as needed.

To park the bike horizontally, lay the base flat on the floor (or road, etc.) and extend the arms straight out from it at a 90 degree angle. Then reel in the bike’s front wheel so that it fits between his two horizontal tubes on the base. and Between the two vertical tubes of the arm.

To store your bike vertically, first attach the included bracket to the wall (with 2 screws), then hang the Rak One on that bracket so the base is perpendicular to the wall. Then pull the arm down and lock it at a downward angle (approximately 235 degrees) to the base. Then roll the bike vertically so that the front wheel is again between the tube of the base and the arm.

To use the Rak One as a repair stand, it must be wall mounted, but the arm is locked straight at a 180 degree angle. The included seat post clamp attaches to the end of the arm and the tool tray snaps further back.

In its current form, the device can weigh up to 55 pounds (25 kg) and hold bikes with tires that are 3 inches wide or less. That said, plans call for future versions to accommodate heavier, more tired bikes.

Assuming the Rak One reaches production, you can get one for a US$129 pledge. Planned retail price is $179. You can see it in action in the video below.
