What you need to know
- The Pixel 7a is one of Google’s most anticipated smartphones this year and will probably launch in May.
- Ahead of launch, new renders of the Pixel 7a surface have been shown online, showing off a range of color options.
- Renderings reveal a new blue colorway that stands out next to other traditional colorways.
A new render of the Pixel 7a, set to launch in just over a month, will show off an all-new colorway not available on older Pixels.
The new renders come from trusted informants OnLeaks in partnership with MySmartPrice, giving us all the colorways close to the expected specs. The interesting part about these claimed renders is the new Sky Blue colorway, which looks fantastic, to say the least.
Hey #FutureSquad! Four months after we unveiled the first look of the #Google #Puxel7a, today we bring you the first official look at #Google’s upcoming budget phone in all three color options On behalf of @mysmartprice 👉🏻 https://t.co/hZQmj2Q6Ip pic.twitter.com/rM8AbkAgDdApril 9, 2023
The device will likely feature in two other traditional gray and white colorways alongside the new Sky Blue colorway. A supposed rendering is shown below. It conveys a familiar design similar to the Pixel 7 (matching previously leaked renders), as it gets an aluminum camera frame instead of glass, as seen in .
However, the front looks the same, with a central punch-hole display and fairly prominent bezels. This is acceptable given the budget smartphone segment it falls into. Other rumored specs for the Pixel 7a include a 6.1-inch Full HD+ display and a 90Hz refresh rate. Additionally, it is expected to feature the Google Tensor G2 SoC that debuted in the Pixel 7 series.
The MSP report also points to a trend towards a 64MP primary camera. Additionally, the Pixel 7a’s primary sensor is said to be aided by a 12MP ultra-wide-angle lens. The front of the device is expected to feature a 10.8MP selfie shooter.
A new leak shows renderings of the new Sky Blue colorway, but this isn’t the first time we’ve come across this moniker. And it was said to possibly feature a Jade colorway. The name game here represents a purely region-wide marketing strategy, which is subject to change until the phone hits the commercial market later this year.
The Pixel 7a is set to launch at Google I/O 2023 in May, after the first foldable smartphone, the Google Pixel Fold.

The Google Pixel 6a is a petite budget phone with the company’s powerful Tensor chip, which makes it taller. His Pixel 6a at a nice low price offers a decent rear camera and his five-year commitment to Android updates and Pixel-exclusive features.
