26-ft-long Ulla-Carin designed for full-time tiny living

The recently completed Urakaline is only 26 feet (nearly 8 meters) long, which is small for a tiny house. But designer Modern Tiny Living has a fully functional interior that packs everything a small family needs for full-time living.

Ulla-Carin’s name comes from a Swedish exchange student of that name who was accepted by the owner’s family. Based on a 3-axle trailer, it’s finished with vertical smart siding with cedar accents and a metal roof. Its length is certainly not the smallest we’ve seen, but it’s at least more compact than most North American small houses we’ve reported, which tend to be 30 feet (9.1 m) in length.

Visitors enter the living area, which looks very compact but is filled with light thanks to the generous glazing. Much of the available floor space is a combined living room/dining/work area that hosts a sofa with integrated storage space and a flexible dining table/desk with drawers.

The kitchen is next door. It has a farmhouse style sink, full size refrigerator/freezer, microwave and electric induction hob. A nearby desk serves as a countertop, and there are also several cabinets and a stacked washer and dryer.

Unusually for a small house of this size, Ulla-Carin has the master bedroom downstairs, on the other side of the house from the bathroom. There is plenty of headroom to stand upright, plus some storage space and a double bed. The sub-bedroom, on the other hand, is a typical tiny house-style space with storage and integrated stair access, low ceilings and a double bed.

Additionally, this model also features a second loft area, accessed by a removable ladder, that can be used for more storage or as a third bedroom for guests.

Ulla-Carin works with standard RV-style grid-based connections, but comes with a host of different options, finishes and appliances as well as off-grid capabilities. No word on pricing for this particular model, but the company’s Custom His Tiny Home starts at $59,000 USD for him.
