Ring’s long-awaited car camera is now available for pre-order.
Announced at CES 2023, the camera is available for pre-order for a limited time price of $199 (regular retail price is $249.99). Ring Car Cam has some important features. First, it has a double-sided camera that records when the car is in motion or parked. This means that if there is an intrusion, the camera’s sensors will alert you and automatically start recording. You can even use the camera’s built-in microphone to speak to someone who has broken into your car live.
Second: Ring’s Car Cam works within the Ring system. For better or worse, the Amazon-owned Ring is extremely popular. That means people can get dashcams that work with the security systems they already use. Another great feature is called Traffic Stop. If you have a minor accident or are stopped by the police, just say “Alexa, record” and the camera will record your parked or parked car.
Tesla is the first car compatible with Amazon’s Ring Car Connect
The camera automatically connects to your home WiFi, but LTE functionality is available with a $6/month or $60/year Ring Protect Go subscription. That subscription means you can get alerts while your car is away from home, and you can inspect your car live no matter where it is.
Ring first announced the Car Cam in 2020, but plans to start shipping it to customers in February.
In addition to the Car Cam, Ring also announced the return of the Peephole Cam. This is a camera that sits on top of an existing peephole. This means that people who live in apartments, i.e. people without a front door, can install a video doorbell. It features a 1080p HD camera, night vision, two-way calling, and motion detection. Retail price is $129.99.
