HCA Healthcare Admits Massive Data Breach

Eleven million Americans in 20 states just wanted to take care of their health, but their data was leaked by an institution that trusted it. their hospital.

HCA (Hospital Corporation of America) announced on July 5 that it learned of the data breach. On July 10th, HCA announced a “data security incident” and since then millions of HCA patients have been very businesslike and may have their personal data traded on the dark web. I have received an email informing me of something. As much as smoking a cigarette in prison (But we don’t really know the part – Ed.).

According to HCA (one of the largest US healthcare providers), the theft occurred from an “external storage location.” The stolen data includes full name, full address and email address, phone number, date of birth, gender, location and date of service, date of next appointment. At least they didn’t get any HIPAA-protected health information – at least he believes HCA at this point The theft did not contain clinical information.

Since that announcement and email, HCA Healthcare has faced at least four class action lawsuits. This may be a bit of sympathy for those aware that Kim Jong-un reads all about their erectile dysfunction just for a laugh while eating breakfast cereal. Jokes aside, this information can be a huge risk for patients, demographics who are prime targets for phishing and phone scams.

A more detailed study can be read on Bleeping Computer and has been covered by many other national news outlets as well.
