A new month and a new year. This means the phone will start receiving the latest monthly security patches and his first update of 2023. Samsung usually releases monthly security updates very quickly. Start the new year with the January 2023 patch.
The latest flagship models such as the Galaxy S22 and Samsung’s foldable smartphones are usually expected to receive the new update first. However, that doesn’t seem to be the case this time. The first models to get the update were the Galaxy Note 10 and Note 10+, which started receiving it (via SamMobile) along with the firmware version on January 2nd. N970FXXS8HVL3The device is almost four years old and hasn’t had a major OS upgrade, but Samsung provides software support with quarterly updates.
That said, the Galaxy S22 series started receiving the update in the US (via SamMobile) on January 6, and other regions may follow.SamMobile says the Galaxy Z Flip and Z The Flip 5G is also one of the first folding smartphones to be updated.
In terms of what’s included in the patch, Samsung’s security bulletin in January appears fairly minimal, with no critical vulnerabilities addressed, but at a high level related to Samsung Knox, NFC, Secure Folders, and WifiSevice. There are quite a few medium vulnerabilities.

- Samsung Galaxy Note 10/Note 10+ (N970FXXS8HVL3/Switzerland)
- Samsung Galaxy A73 (A736BXXS2BVL3/Malaysia)
- Samsung Galaxy A10 (A105MUBS8CVL1/South America)
More models will be updated later this month, so make sure your model has the latest security patches. You can also check for updates on your Samsung phone by going to Settings > Software Update > Download & InstallPlease note that an update may start rolling out in one region, but it may take some time to reach other regions.
