Spruce up your audio for $200

TechPowerUp was pleasantly surprised to discover that the FiiO K7 isn’t halfway between the K5 Pro ESS and the K9 Pro ESS. , and take advantage of the best features from both the amp section. Using USB Type-B and the XMOS XU208 USB controller isn’t the most effective solution available, but it didn’t degrade performance very much.

On the back are a number of inputs, two line-in RCA inputs for feeding outputs directly to another DAC, RCA outputs for preamplifiers and line outputs, an optical input, a coaxial input, and finally USB. There are two output options on the front, with a 1/4 inch headphone output on the right and a 4.4 mm balanced connector. It also serves as a dedicated knob for switching PO (headphone out), preamplifier, and LO (line out), as well as a gain knob.

Inside are two Asahi Kasei Microdevices AK4493SEQ 32-bit stereo DACs, an XMOS XU208 USB controller, two THX AAA 788+ linear amplifiers, two Nisshinbo Micro Device NJU72315 volume ICs, and more. See exactly what we think of TPU in our full review.
