Callisto Protocol in the early 2020s sci-fi survival horror game-off (opens in new tab) has already revealed its cards, leaving it up to Dead Space Remake to decide which cards become A Bug’s Life and who becomes Antz (or vice versa if you’re an Antz fan). Dead Space Remake has new benefits. However, as pointed out by Rock Paper Shotgun (opens in new tab): All Dead Space Remake pre-orders come with a free copy of Dead Space 2, unlocked with the Remake’s release on January 27th.
In our review of Dead Space 2 (opens in new tab) From 2011, Dan Stapleton gave the game an enviable 87%, concluding that “Dead Space 2 doesn’t attempt to innovate, but is a very polished gameplay experience.” Dead Space 2 was recently included in EA Play and he’s $20 if not for sale otherwise, so this pre-order bonus is pretty good all things considered.
Including the game’s sequel as a pre-order perk feels a little silly to me, like a silly logical conclusion to Remakemania, but it’s still a pretty compelling addition. It makes me wonder what EA’s plans for the future of Dead Space will be if Remake sells well enough. Did Dead Space 3 leave the series in a particularly good place to continue? , Dead Space 2 just begging for 4K textures and ray-traced lighting? Would a continuation of a new reboot like Final Fantasy 7 make more sense going forward?
Whatever the distant future holds, Dead Space Remake and its sequel pack-in bonuses arrive on January 27th. If you’re looking for more in-depth coverage to inform your purchase of Dead Space Remake, check out our hands-on preview (opens in new tab) From around October.
