The Elec: All iPhone 15 models will bring Dynamic Island, iPhone 16 Pro to debut UD Face ID

According to a new report from Elec, Apple is preparing to extend Dynamic Island’s round cutouts from the iPhone 14 Pro series to all iPhone 15 models, including the non-Pro iPhone 15 and 15 Plus. For the new publishing site, Samsung Display has ordered 24.1 billion won ($19.3 million) worth of equipment from a similar South Korean company, Philoptics. The order is reportedly for the etching equipment used to manufacture the Dynamic Island display.

Samsung Display is expected to contract more companies in the future to manage the growing demand for Dynamic Island displays from Apple. Speaking of iPhone display technology, The Elec also believes Apple may finally bring an under-display (UD) Face ID solution to the iPhone 16 Pro series. No further details were shared about how the fullscreen solution will perform.

Earlier rumors suggested that Samsung Display might partner with OTI Lumionics. OTI Lumionics is developing a new generation of UD cameras using a proprietary organic cathode patterning material for optimal transparency above the camera and sensor. These rumors speculated that we might see a UD Face ID solution in the iPhone 15 Pro series, but that seems unlikely.
