Tevva begins mass production of medium-duty electric truck

Back in 2021, hydrogen/electric truck maker Tevva joined the likes of Tesla, Volvo, and Volta on a mission to clean up freight transportation. Now the company has announced that he is the first British EV manufacturer to start mass production of electric trucks.

Production at Tevva’s UK facility began with the TEV75. This is because the Vehicle Certification Authority and the Swedish Transport Agency have given the 7.5-ton battery-electric truck its full vehicle type approval for the European Community after subjecting it to a series of system tests.

This basically means that sales can start in the UK and Europe, with Expect Distribution, Travis Perkins and Royal Mail expected to be among the first customers to receive the new electric medium-duty trucks. The company plans to build 1,000 trucks this year and produce them for the global market in 2024.

The TEV75 is a single-speed automatic with 192 kW of power and 596 Nm (439.5 lb.ft) of torque that rolls up 20% grade when duty calls.
