Emoji reacts are finally coming to Google Meet

A long time ago (February 2021, to be exact), Google announced it would add responsive emojis to Google Meet.

It will finally happen (but not everywhere, anytime soon). In a blog post published Wednesday, Google said the feature will be available on his web and iOS. “Coming soon” on Android.

More precisely, the full rollout began on January 11th for users with personal Google accounts. Starts on January 16th or January 23rd. This depends on whether Google Workspace is on the Rapid Release or Scheduled Release feature update track.

When you go live, you’ll see new menu items and emoji icons in the bottom menu bar. Select an emoji and click it to appear on the video tile and float to the left side of the screen. When multiple users submit emojis, they appear as a burst of emojis on the left side of the viewer’s screen.

It seems like a minor feature, but it’s actually very useful. I can’t remember how many times I’ve wanted to approve a Google Meet call without my voice or text interrupting the speaker.

On Wednesday, Google also changed how users start group conversations in Google Chat.[グループ会話を開始]option is deprecated. instead of,[新しいチャット]You can easily create a conversation with multiple recipients by clicking , entering their names, and selecting them as participants.
