in the box

The new Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4 comes with a Type-C to Type-C data cable, SIM card ejector and documentation. No adapter means you’ll have to spend a few extra bucks in case you don’t have one at home.

design

The new Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4 looks similar to its predecessor and retains a flatter design compared to the Flip3, making the phone easier to navigate. The hinge is narrower than the model, making the device a relatively small closed package. The control configuration is the same as Galaxy Z Fold4. The main speaker, the USB-C connector, is at the bottom. The capacitive fingerprint scanner and volume locker are on the right, and the SIM tray is on the left. Despite its small diameter, the fingerprint sensor works very accurately and fast.

The main body is all glass of Gorilla Glass Victus +. It has an IPX8 rated waterproof rating, which means that in 1.5 meters of fresh water he can’t be submerged for 30 minutes. His new Flip4 comes with the Bespoke edition. That means you can customize the top and bottom body of your phone with 75 colors.

The phone is very comfortable in your hand and very easy to carry and operate. The phone’s matte finish adds elegance and doesn’t show dirt. The phone comes with a quick settings panel that is available when the phone is folded and can be displayed using your preferred widgets. The second, smaller display has improvements such as the ability to capture images in full resolution with either camera, and you can also double-tap the smaller screen to see the full frame.

The rear panel has two camera sensors and an LED flash. There is a selfie sensor in the punched hole on the front. The size of the hinge has also been improved, and if you want to spot the difference in hinge size between the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4 and Flip3, you really need to look closely.

screen

The phone comes with two displays, the main display is a 6.7 inch FHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X with a 20:9 aspect ratio and a tall screen. The resolution is 1080 x 2640 pixels and the density is 425 PPI. The main display supports HDR10+, 1200 nit peak brightness, and a refresh rate of 120 Hz.

The second display is the cover screen that appears when the phone is folded. This is a 1.9 inch Super AMOLED display with a screen resolution of 260x 512 pixels and a density of 302 PPI.

The Galaxy Z Flip4's secondary display is a 1.9-inch Super Amoled, while the primary display is a 6.7-inch FHD+ Dynamic AMOLED panel.

The bezels are very thin and the screen-to-body ratio is high. Colors reproduced on the screen are excellent, very bright, vivid, vivid and punchy. The viewing experience is highly immersive as HDR10+ support delivers sharp color details and all content displayed is crystal clear with just the right amount of saturation.

UI

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4 comes with One UI 4.1.1 based on Android 12L and specially designed for foldable phones. The UI has been customized to provide a smooth experience. The phone also has a flex mode that can be used as a touchpad, and you can also increase the volume and adjust the brightness level. The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4 has new features that the Flip 3 didn’t have. A double click of the power button activates the rear camera, the external screen acts as a viewfinder, and you can also switch between shooting modes and cameras. Double-tapping the screen also activates the viewfinder and full-size photo mode. There are various other smart features that can be used to improve the user experience. Like the Fold4, the new Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4 also comes with his four years of OS updates and five years of security updates.

processor

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4 is powered by the latest Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 (4nm) processor. Being a top-tier processor, it was expected to easily handle the tasks it threw at it, and it did in the end. It doesn’t take up as much screen real estate as the Fold4, but it was comfortable to play and didn’t bother me while gaming. The gaming experience was good, with all games running at their highest settings. It’s a foldable phone, so the battery it uses fits in a small space, but we didn’t have any heat issues thanks to the powerful processor. The phone comes with 128GB/256GB/512GB of UFS 3.1 storage It comes with 8GB of RAM.

camera

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4 comes with dual rear camera sensors. The first sensor is a 12MP ultra-wide-angle lens with an aperture of f/2.2 and a field of view of 123 degrees. The second sensor is also a 12MP wide-angle lens with an aperture of f/1.8 and an angle of view of 83 degrees. The selfie sensor is his 10MP lens with f/2.4 aperture.

The quality of the images captured using the rear sensor is excellent, taking into account all the details and capturing the subject or environment in its original context. The ultra-wide-angle lens also does justice, as it captures very fine details with little distortion. The selfie sensor is also decent, capturing razor-sharp selfies with excellent contrast levels and color accuracy.

Images taken in low light were also very good. Images taken at night can capture all of that, so the details can surprise you. Color saturation and contrast are unimpaired in captured images and are very good. The new Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4 can shoot video at 4K at 60fps, 1080p at 60fps, and 30fps. The selfie sensor can also shoot 4K quality video at 30fps. The captured video was very stable and the video was color accurate and very detailed.

In the overall scenario, camera functionality is a huge improvement compared to the previously launched Flip3.

battery

The new Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4 has a 3,700mAh battery power. The phone supports 25W fast charging, but it only comes with a cable without an adapter. It also supports 15W wireless charging 2.0 and 4.5W reverse wireless charging. It takes about an hour for your phone to fully charge. This is something we feel Samsung should look into, especially given the competition in a market where you can get phones that can be fully charged within 25-30 minutes.

Conclusion

The new Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4 ticks all the upgrade boxes with a powerful new processor, advanced camera setup, and strong battery life. The compact form factor and added quirkiness of the Flip make it a unique proposition on the market.
