Over a year after its disastrous original release, Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition will now be simply called Grand Theft Auto Trilogy. (opens in new tab)— Now available on Steam (opens in new tab)And this is also on sale.
The Grand Theft Auto trilogy was a complete mess (opens in new tab) Rockstar not only apologized but re-released the older version when it launched in late 2021 (opens in new tab) Of the games included, we showcased Grand Theft Auto 3, Vice City, and San Andreas and gave them to everyone who purchased the updated GTA trilogy.
Things slowly improved as patches and updates continued, but one persistent complaint was that it was only available on PC via the Rockstar Games Launcher. It’s a problem, especially since nearly all of Rockstar’s other games (except Midnight Club 2) have. That shortcoming has been fixed. The GTA Trilogy is now available for purchase on Steam and has been verified with Steam achievements and ‘playable’ with Steam decks. It’s also on sale for $30/£27.50/€30, 50% off his regular price, as part of Rockstar’s publisher sale. (opens in new tab) Running until February 2nd on Steam.
Unfortunately, not everyone is happy with the status quo. Aside from the addition of achievements, it’s unclear how, or if, the trilogy has been updated for Steam, with some fans on Twitter suggesting that the Steam release is due to his patch released in October 2022. It claims to be unchanged from (opens in new tab)which means it’s better than it was at launch, but it’s still not perfect.

User reviews on Steam are just starting to trickle in, so it’s hard to make meaningful judgments at this point, but the trend seems to be mostly positive. achievement, citing the addition of a “consistent 60 fps”, but in any case it was negative because “the Steam community shouldn’t be treated as an afterthought”.
