Monster Hunter Rise finally spread its wings to more platforms this week. Available now for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One, in addition to existing releases on Nintendo Switch and PC. We didn’t get to visit the game beforehand for reviews, but we’re definitely eyeing the release and with lots of reviews and details of the game surfacing online, we’re going to take a look. I thought… how it all rocked.

Fresh off the block, Digital Foundry released a comprehensive 20-minute video breaking down the new PlayStation and Xbox. There, it praised the quality of the original work based on its beginnings as a native Switch title, but even more so the numerous options offered. Let new console players customize their visual and performance experience.
According to DF, the game offers nearly all of the available graphics options that were made available to PC users when the game was released on that platform last year…or a “performance” toggle. Customizations typically for PC viewers include options such as texture filtering, ambient occlusion, shadow quality, and high resolution textures. The game dynamically informs the player what the processing load of the game will be based on the selection.
New-gen versions of games on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S also include support for up to 120 Hz, allowing you to boost to native resolutions under 4K while targeting 60fps performance. You can watch the incredibly detailed DF video below.
As far as the game itself is concerned, reviews for the PlayStation/Xbox port have been very positive.
