Nokia and Samsung extend cross-license patent agreement

Nokia and Samsung have reached a new agreement on 5G patented technology in which the South Korean tech giant will use Nokia’s “fundamental inventions in 5G and other technologies”. I made a deal.

Under the new deal, Samsung will pay royalties to Nokia over a multi-year period starting January 1, 2023. The actual terms of the agreement remain confidential.

Nokia currently holds over 20,000 patent families, of which 4,500 are considered essential to 5G technology. Since 2000, the company has invested more than 130 billion euros in research and development.
