As I was driving down the streets of my hometown in Northern California, I couldn’t help but grin remembering driving a 1995 Acura Integra on the same street over 20 years ago. But the nostalgia quickly faded when I realized that the 2023 Acura Integra was a completely different car than the one I was driving at the time.
Gone are the round headlights and high-revving VTEC engine. This all-new model has sharper looks, lots of high-tech gadgets and a turbocharged powertrain. It’s sleek and inviting, and I don’t mind if it doesn’t share much with its predecessor.

Acura Integra is back as a 2023 model for the first time in 22 years. Its reintroduction was a bit of a surprise and lukewarm, but it offers considerable value and performance for entry-level luxury buyers.

How does the 2023 Acura Integra run?

The 2023 Acura Integra offers an engaging and comfortable driving experience. A-Spec models are equipped with supportive Alcantara and leather seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and sport pedals to add a sporty feel. If anything, they complement the car’s high-revving and turbocharged engines nicely. Of course, the smooth-shifting manual transmission also helps.
Under the hood is a 1.5-liter 4-cylinder turbo engine common to the current Honda Civic Si. Considering the small powerplant produces 200 hp and 192 lb-ft of torque, this isn’t a bad thing. This is more than enough power for everyday driving.
Paddle the stick through gears and you’ll feel a small boost from the turbocharger, adding more power throughout the rev range. It doesn’t swell like a Volkswagen GTI, but it’s enough to make you feel like you have plenty of power.
Just like older models from the late ’90s, the 2023 Integra has VTEC that you can feel and head up at around 5,000 rpm. It’s not as noticeable as the old Honda VTEC engine, but it does improve overall enjoyment and drivability.
As well as providing plenty of power, the Acura Integra offers plenty of comfort. At normal road and highway speeds, the car’s adaptive suspension absorbs bumps well. One of the features that sets the Civic Si apart is the adaptive suspension, which is softer in comfort mode and firmer in sport mode.
To be honest, I didn’t see much of a difference between the three modes available (Comfort, Normal and Sport). If anything, the difference between throttle response and steering power was greater.
Finally, the Integra A-spec 18-inch alloy wheels with all-season tyres. During his week in California, I got caught in a torrential rain and the car was put to the test. But it passed admirably by offering optimal grip and reliability on any road.
