Intel announces 13th gen laptop CPUs – HX series brings up to 24 cores and 5.6 GHz max frequency

After introducing its Raptor Lake desktop CPUs in 2022, Intel has unveiled comparable laptops with its new 13th Gen HX series at CES 2023. HX series The CPU is aimed at gamers and creators, offering a total of 24 cores with 8 performance cores and 16 efficient cores and a maximum frequency of 5.6 GHz for P cores. Intel claims the Core i9-13980HX to be the world’s fastest mobile processor.

The i9-13980HX has an 11% improvement in single-threaded performance and a 49% improvement in multi-threaded work. It supports 32MB L3 cache, 16 lanes of PCIe 5.0, up to DDR5 5600 memory and up to 4 Thunderbolt 4 ports. The all new HX CPU boasts a base power of 55W and a max turbo output of 157W. The baseline i5-13450HX CPU has a total of 10 cores for 6 performance and 4 efficiency.

In addition to the HX series, Intel has added a new H-series Lineup of processors for “enthusiastic laptops” with 45W base power output and up to 14 cores (6 performance and 8 efficiency cores).

Intel announces new products P and U series processors For thin and light laptops. The higher performing P-series models come in 12 and 14 core configurations with a 28W power envelope and up to 24MB of L3 cache.
