NASA’s experimental X-59 aircraft is scheduled to take to the skies in early 2023 to see if it can break the sound barrier without creating a giant sonic boom. If this works, it could lead to a revival of commercial airliners that can travel faster than the speed of sound, as the Concorde once did.
