A new year brings a new Consumer Electronics Expo (CES) and new gadgets. Samsung has announced its latest line of monitors. Led by the new Odyssey Neo G9, it has two of his 4K displays side by side on his single ultra-wide curved monitor.
Samsung’s Odyssey series, first launched in 2020, consists of gaming monitors with fast refresh rates, high resolutions, and a characteristic curve designed to enhance immersion by wrapping the screen into the user’s peripheral vision. I’m here.
The latest model is an updated version of the Odyssey Neo G9 gaming monitor, boasting a larger display and higher resolution. It goes from 49 inches to 57 inches and has a frankly insane resolution of 7,680 x 2,160 pixels. That’s the equivalent of two of his 4K displays side by side. But don’t mistake this for an 8K display. A much more square aspect ratio is required compared to the stretched 32:9 ratio of the new Odyssey Neo G9.
Another new addition is DisplayPort 2.1, which can transfer data up to twice as fast as DisplayPort 1.4. This new version of the tech was just announced in his October, and the Odyssey Neo G9 is the first consumer device to actually support it.
Other key specs of the display include a 240Hz refresh rate to support higher frame rates and HDR 1000 for better contrast. Together, the whole package makes for a pretty intense gaming setup.
The next new model is the Odyssey OLED G9. It’s a bit smaller at 49 inches and has more subtle curves, but it still seems like the two he’s crammed into the resolution of a 4K monitor, though the biggest difference is in the name. Because this monitor has an OLED display, it offers a much higher contrast ratio of 1,000,000:1, allowing you to see true colors and blacks.

ViewFinity S9 is designed for graphic designers, photographers, videographers and other creative professionals, for more creative people. Its 5K 27-inch display can render his 99% of the DCI-P3 color gamut, paired with a built-in color calibration engine to balance brightness, whites and colors.
And finally, there’s the new 27-inch smart monitor M8. It’s made to be a more common display with 4K resolution and the ability to rotate 90 degrees to view vertically. This helps him read long documents (or he watches TikTok videos while reading long documents). But its standout feature is the built-in SmartThings Hub, which allows users to control various Internet of Things devices such as lights, cameras, doorbells and thermostats.
Samsung has yet to announce pricing or release dates for these monitors, but they are expected to launch in 2023.
