Thermaltake Toughpower GF3, 1000W Of Modern ATX Power

Meets all your ATX v3.0 and PCIe 5.0 needs

There was a brief period when kilowatt-class PSUs existed, but they weren’t needed. For a while, CPUs and GPUs were all about power efficiency, but with the latest generation of chips, PCs are back with high power requirements. With the increase in power consumption comes a new generation specification that Thermaltake Toughpower GF3 series fully supports.

This 1000W PSU can deliver up to 999.6W at 83.5A to a single 12V rail, yet is only 160mm deep. The PSU comes with a 600mm long 12+4 pin PCIe cable that can handle up to 450W of power. The efficiency isn’t surprising as the load is increased compared to an 80PLUS rated PSU, but it still remains above 80% for the most part and draws very low power when off. Ripple and load regulation were top notch when TechPowerUp tested. This is much more important to the system than efficiency.

It costs around $200, but for a kilowatt-class PSU with all the latest features, you should expect a hefty price tag.
