Comparison of 4070 Ti and 7900 XT

The GPU with 12GB GDDR6X VRAM and 40TFLOPs of shader performance is the Nvidia RTX 4070 Ti. Nvidia makes some important claims that this should be more than capable of running virtually any game at 1440p.

The GPU with 12GB GDDR6X VRAM and 40TFLOPs of shader performance is the Nvidia RTX 4070 Ti. The GeForce RTX 4070 Ti is rumored to have a base clock of 2,130 MHz and a boost clock of 2,610 MHz.

However, a sample from the Geekbench 5 submission bumps it up to 2,730 MHz, suggesting that this is either a bespoke model with a significant factory overclock or the user overclocked it intentionally.

Six GeForce RTX 4070 Ti OpenCL listings with scores ranging from 207,528 to 219,504 points have been spotted by Benchleaks. We used the highest score (219,504 points) for comparison.

All six entries used the same test machine with a Core i7-12700 (Alder Lake) processor and 64 GB of DDR4-3600 memory. Note that OpenCL performance is not a reliable indicator of game performance. Consider the consequences with a grain of salt.

The GeForce RTX 4070 Ti will include a full AD104 die with 7,680 CUDA cores and 12 GB of 21 Gbps GDDR6X memory spread over a 192-bit memory bus, unless otherwise changed. It won’t be the fastest graphics card in this configuration, but if it tests well, it could end up on the list of best graphics cards.

However, in the OpenCL test, the highest performing Radeon RX 7900 XT scored 201,195. The RDNA 3 outperformed the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti by 9.1%. However, the Ada graphics card fell short of the Radeon RX 7900 XTX.

The GeForce RTX 4070 Ti lost out by 5.6% with 231,836 points, the highest score ever achieved by the Radeon RX 79000 XTX.
