The idea of getting a good webcam seems to become more important over time, especially if you’re into old streaming on Twitch, YouTube, or other platforms. This Toucan Pro Streaming Webcam The is the latest contender to dive into the world of mid-range webcams, offering all the fun of a decent resolution/fps output in a nice-looking chassis, and it also has convenient connections.
When it comes to what the output looks like, it makes sense to learn more about the Toucan Pro Streaming Webcam. Well, at this price it offers the chance to record at 1080p/60fps like many other webcams, or up to 1440p at 30fps. It’s kind of the best of both worlds on offer, and in testing, the video we recorded one Saturday afternoon looks pretty good, as you can see from the sample footage below.
That said, while we may not have seen that much of an increase in detail in our sample video, I have to say that 1440p provided a little more clarity to the processing when recording.
The fact that you also have the option to record at 1080/60fps gives you the advantage of having more frames to play back. So the resolution will be lower, but the motion of the video will be smoother. Additionally, recording at 1080p is likely to be more stable than at 1440p, and honestly the lower resolution is more consistent performance and doesn’t sacrifice much in terms of overall image quality. I’d like to stick with 1080p/60fps for more consistent performance, but the addition of QHD resolution output is a welcome addition to choose from.

Interestingly, unlike other webcams in this price range, there is no mention of this Toucan webcam with automatic low-light correction, but generally speaking it handles low-light environments pretty well. We found that recording with OBS added some warmth to the tone of the webcam video. This seems to have fixed the beige wall we were recording on and gave it a little more liveliness.
The presence of an omnidirectional mic provided some clear pick-up of my voice as you hear…and the conference.

In terms of design, this Toucan webcam is a little different than other webcams I’ve used and tested in the past. When not in use, the webcam can be easily laid down and this is a great privacy relief as people can’t look in if the webcam lens is facing down. negates the need for a privacy shutter, although it might have been nice to have it as a secondary barrier.
The actual camera module is mounted on its own small stand. This means you can get up and running without having to screw anything into the ¼” threaded mount on the bottom. However, Toucan offers a standard monitor mount for this webcam. I used this to fasten to the top of his MacBook for testing. The connection is secure when it’s there, and you don’t have to worry about the possibility of your camera falling off.

Constructed of fairly solid-feeling plastic, these cameras don’t feel cheap and scratch-free, unlike other more affordable webcams. Despite its larger stature compared to traditional looking webcams, this particular option is never bulky. You can also The notion that this is a more portable webcam is also reflected in the simple fact that the USB Type-C cable it uses is detachable, which gives you a little more peace of mind. It’s fixed, so if the cable doesn’t work out, it’s going to be a little stuffy, to say the least.

Very similar to Streamplify Cam. (opens in new tab) We saw it earlier this year, and it’s a simple plug-and-play webcam that doesn’t require any additional software, making it especially easy to work with. With its plug-and-play nature in mind, it’s probably not surprising that this Toucan webcam will soon appear within the settings of capture programs such as his OBS. If you’re a budding streamer and want a webcam that’s easy to set up, this is a solid choice.
So let me summarize. The Toucan Pro Streaming Webcam is an all-around webcam suitable for both conferencing and streaming, offering very good video output in both bright and low light conditions, a sturdy chassis and easy connectivity The addition of a convenient USB Type-C connection is excellent, and the omnidirectional mic also offers decent pickup. If you’re a streamer, this is a convenient choice.
