The race for the best wireless gaming mouse is heating up, and at CES 2023, ASUS announced its latest entry in challenging the dominance of palm-based performance peripherals. This time, instead of a customizable keyboard, we have an esports-focused mouse co-developed with Aimlab.

The ROG Harpe Ace Aimlab Edition is an understated gaming mouse with an all-black finish and slight pops of color on the mouse wheel and side buttons. The bottom has shallow PTFE feet and I think it has a little bushiness.
Likewise, the shape of this mouse is also very unique. Aimlab and ASUS have developed mice with significantly thinner bodies and equally low click locations. This is a very unique design, but not all immediately feel great.
This isn’t for everyone, and it took me a while to get used to the narrow body.With my small hands, I found myself gripping the mouse very well. Improved.

I found myself using the mouse with a claw-style grip and found that the bumps really didn’t interfere with my gaming scenarios. The edges are lined with horizontal lines for enhanced grip.
The thumb buttons are placed fairly high, and we found them very satisfying to click, but the elevated position of the buttons can make it difficult to reach for them.
There are also ASUS’ ROG Micro-Switches, which I feel are easy to use here, and the ROG Aimpoint sensor bears some similarities to PixArt’s 3395. When it comes to productivity in general, it’s hard to point out the ROG Harpe Ace Aimlab Edition’s shortcomings. It has almost all the features. However, in gaming scenarios, the ROG Harpe Ace Aimlab Edition really shines.
The inherently awkward grip performed great in titles like Overwatch 2 and CS:GO, but the mouse’s wireless nature and light weight allowed me to pick it up and aim for speed with pinpoint precision. It doesn’t take long to decide that a mouse is an absolutely strong performer, rivaling tried and true favorites like the Logitech G Pro X Superlight and Razer Deathadder V3 Pro. was.

should you buy it?
Sadly, no pricing details are available for the ROG Harpe Ace Aimlab Edition yet, but we do know it will be released in Q1 2023. It’s nice to see ASUS trying something else, especially in a saturated market where one form factor dominates.
Our only complaints were the shallow feet and side button placement that were hard to reach while gaming. Everything else is fantastically well built and will surely please even the most hardcore esports enthusiast.
