Measuring 7.9 x 4.1 x 5.1 inches, the House of Marley Get Together Duo is smaller than your average bookshelf speaker but larger than many computer speakers. So it offers a little more oomph and low end without taking up too much desk space (more on that later).
Aesthetically, it has a more organic look than most computer speakers, reflecting its eco-friendly approach. Most of the materials used here are of the sustainable kind. The front and back of the unit are covered with bamboo, while the top, bottom and sides are covered with fabric made from recyclable materials. The packaging is also fully recyclable.
I’m not sure why the sides are covered with fabric instead of bamboo, but it makes for a striking wood and black color scheme (unless you have a cat, the fabric is very sensitive to pet hair). easily attracted). What might be a little disappointing is the sound quality of these speakers. We definitely had higher expectations. It’s hard to say that the sound is bad. But they have a very colored sound quality and have an oversized low end (although there’s no subwoofer, so there’s not much sub-bass extension). Especially the frequencies lying between the low and mid frequencies are so pronounced that they almost overwhelm the rest of the frequency range and can be heard resonating somewhere within the speaker cabinet.
The rest of the midrange sounds a bit full as well, with very little high end. It’s a bit muddy and seems like the kind of frequency range designed by someone who wants to hear house music (perhaps on the higher end).
The Get Together Duo’s sound quality isn’t overwhelming, but its ability to function as a portable speaker, while not terrible, is a nice addition that makes up for the lackluster sound. Yes, but you can use it for 20 hours before you need to charge it. That’s longer than most portable speakers. It’s also a bit larger than most portable units, so it has more volume.
