ZeroWheel adds electric resistance and assistance to the humble ab wheel

So-called “Abu Wheels” are widely used to strengthen the core, and in some models the resistance is limited by spring mechanisms or elastic bands. However, ZeroWheel goes even further by incorporating an adjustable power electric motor.

The device was invented by Dr. Neil Singer, a motion control specialist at MIT, when he was using conventional exercise equipment to alleviate back problems.

As with a regular ab wheel, the user holds the handle while rolling it back and forth along the floor or up and down along the wall. However, for ZeroWheel, he starts by dialing 1 of the 5 levels of resistance. Also support.

The motor provides more training for stronger users or gives weaker users a boost both forwards and backwards. The idea, of course, is for the individual user to start with some assistance and work up to increasing levels of resistance as their core strength improves.

Also, as is common with many electronic devices today, ZeroWheel communicates with the accompanying app via Bluetooth. Its app allows users to track their progress over time and compete with other users such as family and friends.

ZeroWheel has reportedly “settled preliminary partnerships with multiple high-end gyms” and is now looking for investors. The device itself is available for pre-order until January 9th for $399. After that, the price increases to $499. Buyers pay an initial $100 deposit and the rest will ship this fall (northern hemisphere).
