First AFEELA prototype

The first AFEELA prototypes on display at CES focus on safety and security. The first EV has a total of 45 cameras and sensors inside and outside. The ECU (Engine Control Unit) has a maximum computer power of 800 TOPS (Trillions or Tera Operations per Second) and is equipped with a vehicle-specific Qualcomm Snapdragon chip. This computing power is used for key functions such as ADAS, infotainment and other sensors. There are also time-of-flight (ToF) sensors that detect the driver and vehicle surroundings to prevent accidents.

AFEELA’s exterior features a ‘media bar’ that allows the vehicle to present itself to the people around it, using lights for more effective communication between vehicles and people around them. The interior features a minimalist approach, without any decorations or bright colors. The dashboard has a large display and Sony provides the entertainment. We’ve heard some rumors recently about a possible PlayStation 5 integration, but so far we haven’t heard any confirmation about those rumors.

The company has partnered with Epic Games on the entertainment side, but we have yet to hear how the two companies will work together, nor have we yet seen the outcome of the partnership.

Regarding autonomy, AFEELA offers Level 3 under some limited conditions and Level 2+ in most urban areas. For those who don’t know, Level 2 can perform some automatic functions, but still require the full attention of the driver. Level 3 vehicles can handle most dynamic driving tasks, but still require driver attention. Level 4, on the other hand, can drive independently and Level 5 is fully autonomous.

What does AFEELA stand for?

According to the company, “AFEELA” stands for “FEEL” at the heart of the new electric vehicle. Regarding its branding, the company said, “AFEELA expresses a two-way relationship in which people ‘FEEL’ mobility as an intelligent existence, and mobility ‘FEEL’ people and society using sensing and network IT technology.
