Just as the first beta phase began following the feature drop in December, Google is now rolling out the next Android 13 beta.
Android developers have posted release notes for Android 13 QPR2 Beta 2. Typically, the eligible devices Google lists for this current beta phase are the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro, Pixel 6, 6 Pro, 6a, Pixel 5, 5a, and Pixel 4a and its 4a 5G variant. Anyone enrolled in the Android Beta program will be updated to the version T2B2.221216.006 For the latest content to test.
Google itself doesn’t explicitly state what’s new in this beta phase in its release notes, but Mishaal Rahman created Twitter. thread I will elaborate on some new things that are worth noting.
In the QPR2 Beta 2 version, users can find a new tutorial centered around Android 13’s “temporary taskbar”. Also, this new view will be enabled with this update. Swiping up from the bottom of your Pixel reveals this temporary taskbar that shows Android’s recommended apps based on your personal routine.

This new beta phase also includes support for displaying shortcut pages. Settings > Display > Lock screenThis allows users to customize the shortcuts that appear on the lock screen. However, it is currently not listed as a testable feature in this beta. However, when Rahman digs further, he finds that two default shortcuts include his Google Wallet and QR code scanner. However, users may also get shortcuts for the camera app and flashlight in the future.
The shortcuts users can actually use are for controlling smart home devices from the lock screen if supported by the appropriate apps. To enable this feature, Settings > Display > Lock screen.
The long-awaited Pixel Tablet is back on the software side with the QPR2 Beta 2 phase. Apparently, the Pixel Tablet can be charged to an estimated 80% when docked. This appears to be a tablet-only version of the Pixel line’s “adaptive charging” feature.
This latest beta also adds Unicode 15 emojis. Also, for those who like the theme his icons, Google may allow users to implement this in any app to make the home screen more visually consistent.
Finally, it looks like a welcome change for users with work profiles on Pixel devices. If you take a screenshot with this profile, it will be saved in the work profile specific screenshots folder, not personal.

This update and future QPR2 betas should include even more features. Many of them will be officially released as part of the next Pixel Feature Drop in March.
