CES attendees outnumber 2022 crowd, surpass estimates

CES drew more attendees than organizers had originally expected for its annual four-day tech show, which ended on Sunday.

The Consumer Technology Association announced Sunday that the convention will bring an estimated 115,000 industry professionals to the Strip, with attendance numbers up significantly year-over-year but still below pre-pandemic figures.

CES 2022 had around 45,000 attendees, mostly due to the rapid spread of the omicron variant of COVID-19, while pre-pandemic shows typically draw 170,000 attendees.

Pre-audit figures for this year’s show have exceeded the show’s producers’ initial estimate of 100,000 attendees. About 40,000 foreign visitors (CTA estimates) from 140 countries and he was attended by 4,800 media members from about 70 countries.

“CES 2023 was a fantastic reunion, rocking everything from our keynote stage attendance to press conferences to product debuts on the show floor. We showed the world that in-person events are back!” CTA said Gary Shapiro, president and CEO of , in a news release. “The innovations announced this week will drive economic growth and change in meaningful ways to improve our lives and create a better future for the next generation.”

The show hosted more than 3,200 exhibitors, including 1,000 startups, in 2.2 million net square feet of convention space at the Las Vegas Convention Center and The Venetian Expo. According to CTA, 60% of Fortune 500 companies attended the show.

Companies have launched products and services in automotive and mobility technology, digital health, Web3 and the metaverse, sustainability, entertainment, and more.

CES on-demand content — a remote option created during the pandemic and expanded for the 2023 show — will be available online through February. The show returns to Las Vegas January 9-12, 2024.
