Visitors come regularly to Apple’s carefully constructed walled garden ecosystem. The group continues to drive demand for its products even though its latest additions to the garden look almost new from the outside.
Following the launch of the iPhone 14, we were asked if it would be any different from the previous model. Let’s take a look at the similarities and differences between the two phones.

in the box
When you open the box, you will find the wrapped iPhone 14, USB Type-C to Lightning cable, and SIM removal tool.
design
The new iPhone 14 is the identical twin of the iPhone 13. It has the exact same display size and notch design. With rounded corners on the edges, it feels just like the iPhone 13. It’s a gram or two lighter, but not much. The new iPhone 14, like its predecessor, comes with a glass sandwich body divided by an aluminum frame. The front glass features a ceramic shield that protects the screen from scratches. The back is protected by a glass cover. It comes with an IP68 ingress protection rating, meaning the phone can withstand water pressure up to 6 meters deep for about 30 minutes.
The keys are arranged similarly to previous iPhone models. The power button is placed on the right, while the alert slider, volume rocker and SIM tray are placed on the left. At the bottom is the Lightning connector and his two speaker grilles. This connector supports Delivery 2.0 charging.
change
Externally, the new iPhone 14 looks nothing like the iPhone 13, but internally, the company has made some rearrangements to its design. The iPhone 14 is easier to fix than previous models as the rear glass panel can be removed as a separate part, easing the repair process.
screen
The display size of the iPhone 14 is exactly the same as the iPhone 13 with the same 6.1-inch display. The phone comes with a Super Retina XDR OLED with 1170 x 2532 pixel resolution and 460 PPI pixel density. It’s pretty sharp, but we’ve seen the same display type on the iPhone 13, so nothing new. The display has a peak brightness of 1200 nits, making the display easy to read even in bright sunlight.
With support for both HDR10 and Dolby Vision to enhance your viewing experience, the content you see on your screen will give you maximum enjoyment. The colors produced are very accurate, crisp and vibrant. The company is using a 60Hz refresh rate on the new iPhone 14, which is a bit disappointing, as most affordable Android phones also offer a 90Hz refresh rate as standard. Here’s the iPhone 14. and Pixel 6a mimic each other.

The iPhone 14 comes with a 60Hz refresh rate, but the touch and scrolling experience is more than a 90Hz refresh rate display, so it doesn’t feel like it’s at 60Hz. No problems occurred during operation.

speaker
The new iPhone 14 comes with incredible speakers that produce high-definition sound with extremely fine tuning and detail. The first speaker can be placed above the notch and acts as an earpiece for calls. Another speaker outlet is located at the bottom and launches sound waves in a more controlled and directional manner. The new iPhone 14 speakers support spatial audio and Dolby Atmos.
software
The new iPhone 14 comes with iOS 16 right out of the box. The iPhone 13 doesn’t see a major upgrade from iOS 15, but it does get better features like notification management, lock screen, and more. The new OS sends notifications from the bottom of the screen. You can also customize the notification style on your display. Focus modes have also been improved, with a choice between Personal, Work, Driving, Game and Do Not Disturb. You can now edit sent messages in the Messages app. The fitness app is available on phones, and buyers don’t need an Apple Watch to use it.
The Face Unlock feature has also been improved, making it a bit faster to operate from all angles. The Face Unlock feature’s fast response speed makes up for the lack of a fingerprint sensor.
The new iPhone 14 and all 14 series phones come with the latest in crash detection. This feature automatically detects and contacts emergency services in the event of a car accident.
The iPhone 14 also features satellite connectivity, which has not yet been rolled out in India. With this feature, you can send an emergency text if you get lost or stuck in an area with poor reception.
chipset
As seen in the previously launched 13 series iPhones, the A15 Bionic chipset is also found in the new iPhone 14, but this is a higher variant chipset of the 13 Pro model. The CPU configuration is the same, consisting of 2 cores clocked at 3.23 GHz Avalanche and 4 cores clocked at 1.82 GHz Blizzard. I didn’t experience any lag while multitasking or playing games, and the performance level of the iPhone 14 is on par with the iPhone 13.
I used both phones side by side and found that both phones had the same speed in launching apps, rendering videos, etc. The iPhone 14 has 6GB of RAM and 4GB of RAM Unlike the iPhone 13 that was announced. The improved RAM certainly enhances the functionality a bit more. The gaming experience was also very similar to the iPhone 13, running all games seamlessly.

camera
The new iPhone 14 uses the iPhone 13’s camera. It comes with dual camera sensors positioned similarly to the iPhone 13, but the performance of the iPhone 14’s main camera is superior as it has a bright f/1.5 aperture and larger pixels. When compared to the iPhone 13. With a 12MP primary sensor, you can click images like the iPhone 13. The second 12MP ultra-wide-angle lens is the same one that was on the iPhone 13. 2.4 and 120 degree field of view. When it comes to image details, you’re unlikely to notice any significant difference.
The new iPhone 14 has the phase-detection autofocus feature found in previous Pro models. This is the difference between the iPhone 13 and iPhone 14 base models. The company also incorporates a new image processing unit called Photonic Engine that helps combine more images into one. Another new feature introduced to all iPhone 14 models this year is Action Mode, which enhances video stabilization capabilities.
All other features remain the same as the iPhone 13. Portrait mode, Cinematic mode, Photo Style, Smart HDR and Night mode are available for both the front and rear cameras.
Images taken in daylight retain the natural colors of the environment. Detail was good and we didn’t see any noise effects on the image.Compared to its predecessor, the images captured by both models are better, except the new iPhone 14 offers slightly sharper images. , were similar in every way. The portrait images captured maintain delicacy with perfect subject detection and separation. The ultra-wide-angle lens does a phenomenal job of capturing wide images with great detail.

Images taken at night are also rich in detail. There was an almost negligible level of noise detection. Images taken at night take several seconds to process, so they need to be kept stable for a few seconds. Night mode does an amazing job of keeping details sharp and images very vivid.
For selfies, it has the same 12MP lens as the iPhone 13. The selfies taken are excellent, maintaining all details such as skin tones and textures in perfect balance. In portrait mode, selfies are cropped to his 7MP. In the horizontal frame, the selfie camera captures images at his 12MP. The selfie camera also features phase-detection autofocus to help you focus quickly and capture sharp selfies. Compared to the iPhone 13 selfie, the new iPhone 14 differs in details that are barely noticeable.
battery
The new iPhone 14 comes with a slightly improved 3,279 mAh battery, while the iPhone 13 had 3,240 mAh battery power. I noticed that the new iPhone 14 has better battery performance, even though it uses the same processor. The discharge rate is very slow and I found the battery power to be 40-50% at the end of the day under normal use. That means you can do your tasks the next day on a single charge. As you know, Apple has stopped shipping chargers with the latest iPhones. The new iPhone 14 is no exception. Apple offers his 20W charger as an add-on purchase. The new iPhone 14 charges slightly faster. I was able to charge the phone from 0-100% within 50-60 minutes.
Conclusion
Externally, the new iPhone 14 looks no different than it does outside the walled garden. But there are some interesting updates under the hood. We can see upgrades in camera capabilities, battery performance and efficient charging. The 13 is a better option than the iPhone 14.
