You may have heard about Apple’s plans to design its own cellular chip. This is rumored to debut in late 2024 or early 2025, but the latest rumors also include a wireless chip responsible for Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity. Now Apple uses his Qualcomm cellular chips and Broadcom wireless chips.

Sources familiar with the matter claim that Apple’s first in-house wireless chip will launch in the iPhone in 2025, and that the company is looking to combine cellular and wireless chips. This ultimately saves production costs, improves power consumption and occupies less space.
This is just one of many attempts by Apple to reduce its reliance on third-party suppliers by doing most of its manufacturing in-house. Apple’s M-series silicon is the latest example, and it’s clearly working very well for Apple.
