Unleash your students’ creativity by letting them design posters, collages, and visual presentations using PicMonkey. Combine these projects with lessons on photo editing and design concepts such as brightness, contrast, and saturation. Try a semester or her year project where the learner creates a class photo album documenting the semester or year. Ask learners to document a compelling project as they complete it and annotate their work with text overlays. Create custom flash cards by importing Creative Commons photos. PicMonkey is also a powerful graphic design tool for educators. So create custom class logos and flyers to market your school events (and get learners to help out).
Built for sharing and encouraging online posting, PicMonkey is perfect for your class website, class blog, or school Facebook page. Unique in-app templates let you customize images for popular social media sites and aspect ratios. There is no way to turn off teacher dashboards or shared access, but PicMonkey is “off” by default on popular social media sites. (Enable these under “Share” to post your PicMonkey creations to social media.)
PicMonkey is a solid tool that provides an outlet for visual expression, especially if that expression is destined to be shared. The intuitive interface, powerful editing tools, and overlay capabilities make it the perfect introduction to photo editing and graphic design. The paint editing features and social media oriented templates are especially unique. PicMonkey is meant for online sharing, so you can’t print your creations from the app itself. However, what you create can be stored in the app’s cloud-based hub (for a subscription fee) and printed from his website on PicMonkey or from your camera roll. Consider using PicMonkey to customize an image for his web page or profile picture in class, or create a cover photo for his Facebook page at school or his YouTube channel. In the meantime, I’ll use a PicMonkey template to better illustrate how pixel size affects image resolution and file size.
