Twitter’s rolling out its own TikTok-style For You page

Twitter is taking steps to create a For You Page-like experience similar to what TikTok offers. After a turbulent year to say the least, the social media app is changing users’ default feeds with two new tabs.

So far, Twitter has allowed users to switch between algorithmic and reverse chronological timelines. Your feed is now split into two tabs for her, “For You” and “Following.” When the app is first opened, as reported by The Verge,[For You]Tabs are displayed first. This means that the new Twitter homepage, a format shared by TikTok, will be made up of trending topics and recommendations.

This isn’t the first time rival social media apps (including Twitter) have duplicated TikTok’s functionality. It remains to be seen how this particular change will be received by users and how much it will affect their experience with the app. Social media analyst Matt Navarra shared a screenshot of the update, writing that the app is “a really bad version of TikTok.”

Controversial Twitter owner Elon Musk also tweeted about the change alongside other updates, emphasizing that this is “part of a much larger UI overhaul.”

Tabs are first expanded on iOS. The old feed as we know it is still available on Android and web.

Twitter is going through a lot of changes in the next year, and these may not lead to improvement. If you need it, there’s always an alternative to the once-loved bird app.
