Trifo Ollie Pet Cam and Robot Vacuum Review

It was a time when robot vacuum cleaners were rare. There are currently so many different brands and models on the market that you can choose the exact one that suits your needs. If you’re looking for one, check out Trifo’s Ollie Pet.

Ollie Pet was designed with the pet owner in mind, with features you and your pet will love. Follow this robot vacuum review to see if the Trifo Ollie Pet is the next addition to your smart home setup.

Trifo Ollie Robot Vacuum (Pet Edition): First impressions and specs

We previously reviewed the Trifo Lucy robot vacuum, and Ollie Pet shares most of the same features as this robovac. Both have a maximum suction power of 4,000Pa, onboard cameras with day and night vision, the same motion detection system, and 3D-SLAM navigation.

Unlike Lucy, Ollie Pet doesn’t have a robotic mop feature, which we appreciate. The Lucy model’s water tank was so small that it had to be refilled several times before even the smallest room was cleaned. It does what it does and it does it well.

Take a look at the complete list of tech specs for the Trifo Ollie Pet Robot Vacuum.

design and unpack

Ollie Pet’s design is similar to Trifo Lucy and Trifo Emma’s robotic vacuum cleaners. This is a round plastic case with two main drive wheels and a front wheel for navigating the bottom. Most of the robovac body is black with a gold lid.

Unlike the Lucy model, the Ollie Pet’s surface is predominantly matte, making it less likely to show hair and dust accumulated during cleaning. While not glamorous, this design is more practical than her Trifo Lucy design.

what’s in the box

Here’s everything in the box when you unpack it:

  • Trifo Ollie Pet Vacuum Robot
  • Trifo charging base with charger
  • User guide and warranty
  • pet hair removal
  • A fun and fresh laser pointer with battery
  • 3 packs of fragrance

There are two buttons on the top of the vacuum cleaner. One to turn on and off and another to send to the docking station to charge. Open the lid and you’ll see the same two buttons on the inside and a large trash can that you can take out and empty when it’s full. There is also a reset button and a WiFi LED indicator that can be used to factory reset the Trifo Ollie.

The front of the robovac has a contact sensor and a camera for day and night vision. You can use it to spy on your pets and check your property for intruders while you are away.

At the bottom of the Trifo Ollie are the charging photo, tracking sensor, main roller brush and side brushes. The roller brush has two latches to easily open and remove any tangles that may occur during cleaning.

pet features

The Trifo Ollie Robot Vacuum can be used with a pre-installed standard rotating brush, or you can install an optional pet hair extractor. A convenient add-on for pet owners, it offers up to 4,000Pa of suction power and improved access to pet hair on the floor.

If you want to install a pet hair extractor, simply power off the Trifo Ollie, turn it over, press the latch to release the main roller brush and replace it with the pet hair extractor. This device is made to detangle and pick up all pet hair and fur from the floor.

In our experience, pet hair extractors work wonders on both pet hair and hair on the floor. The Trifo Ollie has stronger suction with the extractor attached. And it works wonders, at least on hardwood floors and tiles. The only drawback for us was the sound. The maximum suction setting makes the robot vacuum very loud and may disturb pets with sensitive hearing.

Another pet-related addition that comes with the Ollie Pet version is a fun and fresh laser pointer that doubles as an air purifier. This is another attachment that you can clip to the side of your robot and use to entertain your pet.

Unlike pet epilators, laser pointers don’t seem like a good idea. That means you can’t turn it on via the app to play with your pet while you’re away. A second, more annoying factor is that the attachment can easily come loose while the vacuum is in use. The most realistic way to use it is to hold it in your hand and play with your pet.

The lemon scent from the air freshener is nice, but it doesn’t help much as the laser pointer keeps going off while vacuuming. There is a 3M adhesive sticker that can be used to permanently attach the laser pointer to the vacuum, but it cannot be removed at any time.

Cleaning performance

In terms of cleaning performance, we are pleased with the results Trifo Ollie delivered. 4,000Pa of powerful suction combined with a pet hair extractor can keep your home fur-free, especially if you use Ollie Pet to clean your floors regularly .

The large 600ml trash can only needs to be emptied from time to time. Then the process of taking out the trash and cleaning it is easy and takes only 1 minute.

It doesn’t have a self-empty feature, which allows the Trifo to keep the docking station relatively compact. Generally speaking, Trifo Ollie doesn’t take up much space in your home.

One of the features that sets this robovac (and other Trifo robovacs) apart is its ability to avoid obstacles. Trifo Ollie uses an onboard camera with depth awareness to avoid contact with objects around your home, such as dangling cables and beloved pets.

Same goes for falling down stairs. RoboVac pauses just before a cliff, changes direction and continues vacuuming.

Software and features

The app and Wi-Fi connectivity are where the Trifo robot vacuum excels. This app is available for both iPhone and Android smartphones. If you’re already invested in the Google or Amazon ecosystems, you’ll be happy to know that Ollie Pet works with his Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa.

You can remotely control your robot vacuum using the Trifo Home app. Enable Ollie Pet, change the suction level, set specific cleaning areas and no-go zones, schedule regular cleaning sessions, view past cleaning stats, and even view RoboVac maintenance history.

While your robot vacuum is online, you can evaluate its camera and use Ollie Pet as a security camera or pet camera to make sure your favorite dog is safe.

Most robotic vacuum cleaners use laser-based LiDAR technology for mapping. Trifo Ollie uses cameras and a specialized Trifo robotics visual system for smart mapping, motion detection and room awareness. Trifo also promises that every time he cleans, Ollie will get smarter (i.e. learn more about your home).

Basically, Trifo Ollie is so good at avoiding objects around the house that it works perfectly unsupervised.

Among other things, the Trifo app shows where Trifo Ollie has already cleaned. If you’re not happy with the cleaning route Ollie has chosen, you can even switch to manual control within the app.

battery life

Trifo Ollie comes with a 5,200mAh battery that lasts about 120 minutes and takes 180 minutes from zero to full charge. Unless you have a large house, the battery should easily last one or a few cleaning sessions.

However, please note that the charging time is not short. At about 15%, Trifo Ollie will automatically return to the docking station to recharge. After that, you must wait at least an hour before restarting the cleaning session.

Should I buy the Trifo Ollie Pet Cam and Robot Vacuum?

Trifo Ollie Pet is an intelligent cordless vacuum cleaner with a strong suit and weaknesses. If you’re looking for a top-of-the-line robotic vacuum and mop combo with an automatic emptying station, the Ollie Pet isn’t the model for you. But if you’re looking for a home robotic vacuum that doubles as a pet sitter If you’re a pet owner, Ollie Pet is a great choice.

You get powerful suction, security camera features, fun pet features, and a well-designed smartphone app at a bargain price compared to other robovacs on the market.
