Michael Best & Friedrich LLP is seeking a Junior to Mid-Level Associate or Patent Attorney to join the Life Sciences Subgroup of the Intellectual Property Practice Group. This position will work from one of our offices in Chicago, Illinois, Salt Lake City, Utah, Wisconsin, or North Carolina. The agent or attorney must have at least 2 years of patent prosecution experience in her office or in-house, and the ability to draft patent applications is a must. An ideal candidate would have a degree or Ph.D. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Molecular Biology or a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering. Priority is given to admission to the USPTO. Candidates should excel in a team environment, be highly motivated and self-motivated, with good business judgment, the ability to communicate clearly with clients, and the flexibility to succeed in a fast-paced environment. .

Required qualifications:
Knowledge base and education
- 2+ years of in-house or law firm patent prosecution experience
- Degree in Chemical Engineering (BS), Chemistry (Ph.D.), and/or Organic Chemistry (Ph.D.), or Molecular Biology (Ph.D.)
- Registration with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO)
