Los Angeles, January 13 (UPI) — Searching We have perfected a style that can theoretically be applied to more mysteries. its sequel, Absentin theaters Jan. 20, proves there’s more to explore.
June (Storm Reid) worries that her mother, Grace (Nia Long), has not returned from a vacation in Columbia with new boyfriend Kevin (Ken Leung). June goes through her mother’s and Kevin’s computers, her files and video footage from Columbia, and begins to find her.
Like Searching, Missing It unfolds fully on June’s computer screen. Scenes with the actors are captured as conversations on Facetime or as a monitor’s camera pointed at June’s bedroom.
Searching It wasn’t the first movie to leave all the action to the computer screen, but it was the first to do it right. Like its predecessor, Absent seamlessly blends all the text and visual communication tools that are part of your daily life.
both Searching When Absent become modern rear window, because the protagonist is locked in a house trying to investigate suspicious activity. The day labourer app connects June to an agent who will do some work for her, but her funds are also limited, so it’s not clear how much she can rely on others. has a ticking clock.
Some of the clues June pursues turn out to be herrings. When June pieces together other clues later in the film, it reminds the audience of details that, like June, they took for granted.
While some viewers may guess the password June needs to access Grace’s account before she figures it out, the other twist is June’s and the viewer’s blind spot. Absent Keep guessing until the last twist.
Performance is completely natural. Speaking on video is now commonplace, but for actors it requires another calibration of performance. A new element of performance that must be.
nevertheless Absent is a whole new mystery with new characters, but admits the search happened in the same world.kidnapping in Searching It inspired the true crime series that June watches, so when you get the idea from the show, it’s really Searching Suggest an idea for its sequel.
Absent It doesn’t include the prolific Zoom, but it does incorporate some new technology.But it adds a door camera and iPhone Live Photos Searching toolset.
If you’re wondering why there are cameras that shoot certain scenes, Absent and answer. Either way, it’s no wonder teens record so many events for social media.
All the information June finds twists the tension tighter than ever. She also gets to know her mother better by investigating this relationship.
Like Searchingreason Absent The feature of the work is that it approaches the mystery regardless of the format. Innovative formats allow you to deliver your narrative information in a more engaging way.
It also gives hope that, in the event of a crisis, everyone leaves enough digital breadcrumbs that their intuitive loved ones can follow them to the rescue.
It is clear that this format is no mere coincidence. Absent It’s one of those tense thrillers, and I hope it won’t be the last in this style.
