G.SKILL’s Flare X5 DDR5-6000 With CL32

AMD EXPO is back

The new Ryzen chips have moved from the previously recommended DDR4-3600 to DDR5-6000. This is exactly the frequency of the G.SKILL Flare X5 DIMMs reviewed on TechPowerUp. When I set it up with EXPO, the timings are pretty tight at 32-38-38-96, which is good considering there’s only one profile.

The kit loses out to similarly clocked DIMMs that don’t focus purely on CAS latency as 96 tRAS really impacts the bandwidth of the synthetic benchmarks. While it’s nice to hear there’s essentially no impact on gaming performance, the only real difference is in benchmarks.

There are challenges with overclocking DDR5 on newer platforms, but if you’re interested in trying it, you should be able to tighten up the timings, like the TPUs we’re reviewing.
