Red Magic 8 Pro goes global with minor changes, will be available from February 2

The latest generation of Red Magic phones will launch in China just before the end of 2022, with the 8 Series ready for international rollout in a few weeks. The company has tweaked its branding a bit so there’s no Pro+ model, and instead there’s the Void.

The base Red Magic 8 Pro is called “Matte” because of its textured, opaque back panel. It has 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, just like the Pro phone launched in China.

Another option is called “Void” and is similar to the Pro+ with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. Void is more than just a new name for Pro+, but there are some differences for the international release.

The big change is that both models have 6,000mAh batteries and both charge at 65W. For comparison, the Red Magic 8 Pro sold in China has the same battery capacity but is equipped with 80W charging. This means his 0-100% charging time of 35 minutes for the Chinese model and 43 minutes for the overseas model. The Chinese market Pro+ has a 5,000mAh battery with 165W fast charging, which is not available in the global market.

Read our in-depth review to learn more about the Red Magic 8 Pro. Simply put, it features his AMOLED panel with a 6.8-inch 1,116 x 2,480 pixel display, 120Hz refresh and 960Hz touch sampling rate. A 16MP front-facing camera is hidden under the display (2nd generation UDC technology). In addition to the touch screen, there are two touch-based shoulder triggers operating at a sampling rate of 520Hz.

Of course, the phone features a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, paired with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage. Cooled by an ICE 11 system paired with an engineered and upgraded 20,000 RPM fan. Cube Performance Optimizer ensures stable frame rate while gaming and low power consumption when not.

The phone has stereo speakers and dual X-axis linear motors, plus a 3.5 mm headphone jack. The wireless system supports Wi-Fi 7 (4×4 MIMO) and has nine antennas for 5G connectivity. The main camera on the back has been upgraded with a 50MP Samsung GN5 sensor, flanked by an 8MP ultra-wide camera.

Finally, a word about how to distinguish between the two models. The back of the Void is transparent like the Pro+. This look was inspired by the colors of galaxies in the void of space, colors rendered by active cooling fans with RGB lighting. The matte version also has RGB LEDs, but they’re on strips instead (because you can’t see the fans).

PS. Did you notice the new Red Magic logo? The company changed the font to “express nubia’s ultimate goal of being much more than a gaming smartphone, but rather gear suitable for all ages and lifestyles.” Become”.
