Samsung is ready to announce the Galaxy S23 series on February 1, 2023. The top-tier Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra is rumored to feature a 200MP primary camera (from his 108MP sensor on the S22 Ultra). In a move that raises even more expectations for the new device, Samsung unveiled the advanced ISOCELL HP2 camera sensor just days before the official launch of the Galaxy S23.

This is the same 108MP camera that Samsung has used for the past few years on its Ultra ‘flagship.
Like the 108MP HP1 sensor found in the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra, the new 200MP HP2 sensor also utilizes pixel binning technology to capture final images with superior quality and clarity. This method combines multiple pixels into one resulting in a sharper, more detailed image.
According to Samsung, the HP2 sensor can produce high-quality 1.2μm 50MP or 2.4μm 12.5MP images. It also supports 8K 30fps video recording at an impressive 33MP resolution. The sensor’s 4-16 pixel binning process is expected to deliver exceptional low-light performance.
Samsung also states that the new camera sensor will also feature Dual Vertical Transfer Gate (D-VTG) technology. This technique helps reduce overexposure and improve color reproduction, especially in bright light conditions. Another key benefit of his new 200MP camera sensor is improved autofocus performance, especially in low-light shots. The HP2 sensor also features Smart-ISO Pro, an advanced HDR solution that allows the camera to shoot 12.5MP images in HDR and 4K video at 60fps. This feature allows the sensor to integrate different levels of his ISO readings from his single exposure, resulting in a more dynamic and detailed image.
