Ozzie has a 16-step coming out plan and he’s doing step 7. It’s about coming out to an adult you see all the time. He decides to help Kitty set up a computer at her home so she can use that quality tech time to talk to her. His initial plan quickly goes awry when Kitty hilariously shuts down the computer instead of double-clicking it. So he had no choice but to speak to her directly, also mentioning her Canadian boyfriend Etienne.
Kitty paused for a moment, then said no. It’s a quick and scathing declaration that she immediately subverts by explaining that she simply doesn’t trust Canadian men. In a straight tone, she reassures him that it’s okay for Ozzy to be gay. Of course, Kitty Forman is an ally. We are all so silly to think otherwise.
She hugged Ozzy and through tears said: Kitty starts crying. I start crying And now we are all crying.
We need more coming out scenes like Ozzy.

While many coming out scenes lean toward drama and shock, the Kitty and Ozzy scene is a moment filled with unconditional love and support. They are in an environment set to be hostile. It’s the 90’s and it’s a small town in Wisconsin. But her response, without the question, “Is it just a phase?” A reply to a tired gag. She immediately took him away.
Yes, it’s a big moment for everyone, but that 90’s show beautifully make it a big moment trust before revelation. It’s not the drama that Ozzy is gay, it’s that he’s found a unique companion in Kitty. I became a person.

Kitty spent each season building homes for these generations of children. I give them practically anything to make them happy. Kitty’s words of love are showering everyone around her with her giving. She succeeded in her main goal of building a safe space for all these kids to hang out in. It’s time to pay Kitty Forman her dues.
