The Shimano Infinium PrimaLoft Gloves combine Gore-Tex and PrimaLoft fabrics for effective wind protection and insulation.
The result is a glove that can go below freezing without being too bulky.
The touchscreen fingers are also very effective, and well-placed palm padding helps with comfort, but a little more grip would make these gloves even better.
Shimano Infinium PrimaLoft Glove Specifications
Shimano combined Gore-Tex Infinium Windstopper fabric on the glove’s upper and finger sides, with PrimaLoft Gold 300 insulation underneath, focused on the back of the hand.
The palm is made of synthetic suede that is thin enough not to interfere with your grip.
Extra padding on the top of the palm helps absorb vibrations. Poron XRD Polyurethane foam palm and heel padding enhances isolation from road shocks.
The wrist closure relies on ribbed cuffs and an elastic zig-zag stitch ring further up the glove.
The palm gripper is very sparse, with a series of silicone strips under the thumb that just meet the palm.
There’s also a reflective logo on the back of the glove, touchscreen fingers, and a wide eyeglass wipe on the thumb, with enough density to not provide cold spots.
Performance of Shimano Infinium PrimaLoft gloves
Shimano chose to strategically place the PrimaLoft Gold insulation, concentrating it on the top of the glove providing plenty of warmth without hindering grip.
The upper is noticeably puffier, but the sides of the fingers are less padded so the fingers can feel overly spread without the “sausage finger” feel found in thicker gloves. is not.
The synthetic leather-like palm is also relatively light in insulation and helps with grip, but this makes it feel colder than the upper.
The gloves feel warmer than they should be in mid-single-digit temperatures, but they wick moisture effectively and keep you from sweating, and you should be comfortable down to 0°C and below.
Relatively little extra grip is provided for the palm. The silicone details present help with grip, but it would be nice to have some extra grip on the index finger to aid in using the controls.
Shimano’s touchscreen fingers are the most effective of any cycling glove I’ve used.
Most gloves allow you to swipe between screens on your cycle computer, but nothing more complex.
In contrast, the fingertips of the Shimano Infinium PrimaLoft gloves are responsive enough to select fields on a computer screen or operate a smartphone effectively.

Shimano Infinium PrimaLoft gloves are made from high quality materials. Insulation is intelligently placed to keep it out of the way but still provides plenty of warmth.
It’s a great option for riding in cold conditions, with temperatures near or below 0°C.
Effective touchscreen fingers mean this is one of the only gloves you don’t need to remove to properly operate your electronics.
