I recently shot a wedding in an area with difficult lighting. The room had a very high, dark ceiling that allowed both indoor and outdoor light to pour into the room. This made it very difficult to control the lighting outside of portrait settings.There was varying degrees of noise in the action shots and dancing and all candid people during the ceremony. The Image Quality app was originally released in 2018 and 2019. Photo AI, the latest addition to our group of apps, combines all image tools into one automatic photo editor. Released in 2022. All applications use deep learning to detect and correct image quality issues.
Using DeNoise AI deep learning Remove noise from photos. It does this by learning from millions of images how to distinguish between real image detail and noise. This process allows the user to restore important image details while removing noise at the same time.
Gigapixel AI also uses deep learning to accurately increase resolution when upscaling photos.
Most upscaling algorithms don’t know how to fill in the missing pixels exactly, resulting in blocky, low-quality results. To solve this problem, Gigapixel AI’s neural network is continuously trained on different sample images to understand what photorealistic details look like.

User experience
One of the biggest advantages of using the Topaz Labs Image Quality app is that it integrates into the workflows you probably already use. Each app can be used with Adobe Lightroom Classic or Adobe Photoshop and each works as a standalone product.
The first step in the user experience is installing software on the machine. There are several ways to manage this. First, you can download the application from your Topaz Labs account. There is an installer link for the version you have, as well as the latest version provided on your Topaz Labs account page. Users also have the option to download the app from a download page that contains only the latest versions of the software currently available.
After you have installed software packages on your system, you can install them in programs of your choice.

For my particular use case (low light wedding), I found it easier to use the apps one by one rather than running them through Photo AI. Here is the process I went through.
- I corrected the color of the image in Lightroom and lightly retouched the photo to improve the skin tones of some subjects. Also, crop and straighten your photos before running them in the Topaz Labs app.
- I reviewed each photo individually as each photo has different lighting conditions and activities going on. The dance image, for example, was taken later in the evening than the setup photo, with the sun still shining into the room.
- I started image editing with noise reduction and DeNoise AI. For most of my photos I was able to use the standard settings, but for some I needed to use the more advanced options available.
- If you need to enhance your photo even more for movement, edit it with Sharpen AI. Again, the standard settings worked well for most images.
- The final step in the process was to use Image AI’s Fade presets to match the tones throughout the image.
Once an image has passed these steps, it is considered “done” and ready for the client. What I found annoying was that he had to edit each image one by one. This method was much more accurate, but if multiple photos appear to have the same problem, it would be nice to be able to apply a series of edits to multiple photos. You have the option to copy and paste the attributes into the image using the paste function. or It’s also a great option for Topaz Labs apps. Once you’ve made your edits, you can copy/paste it to another photo in Lightroom like any other effect.
The Image Quality app works really well and I have found it to be very successful in improving the quality of my images. Not only does the software do what it’s supposed to do very accurately, it’s also very easy to use and accessible to people of all skill levels.
