Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra review | The best Android phone of 2022

The Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra is officially my favorite Android phone and as a Galaxy Note enthusiast, it’s an easy replacement for the last phone I loved so much, the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra.

For all power users, the Galaxy S22 Ultra offers everything you need, including a great camera and great features that are a big upgrade over the Galaxy S21.

Here’s my full breakdown of what I love about the Galaxy S22 Ultra, what you need to know, its top features, and why I think it’s perfect for professionals.

Main function

Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra with S Pen

S Pen: Compared to the Galaxy S22 and S22+, the S22 Ultra comes with the Galaxy S Pen, which offers significantly faster speeds and lower latency. For note-takers, artists, and anyone who likes to give feedback on documents and images, this is a great tool.

camera: The S22 Ultra cameras are all great, from the 40 MP selfie camera to the 108 MP wide camera to the telephoto camera to the ultra wide camera. The biggest camera upgrades, though, are the larger sensor in the wide-angle camera and AI processing that improves results in everything from video and portraits to night shots.

screen: It’s no surprise that Samsung once again won the award for best screen and overall display. The 6.8-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with Quad HD+ resolution is very beautiful, bright, and perfect for gaming, watching movies, or just about anything. It’s a dream of its own.

price, options, colors

The S22 Ultra is available with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage for $1,649.99. However, for $1,789.99, you get a phone with 256 GB of storage and 12 GB of RAM. This is highly recommended to ensure sufficient storage space and power.

The phone is also available in 512 GB and 1 TB models.

Colors include Burgundy, Green, Phantom White, and Phantom Black, as well as Samsung’s own Graphite, Sky Blue, and Red.

Both Phantom White and Black are my favorites for the standard colors, but I love the Graphite phone because they stand out so much.

I also really liked Samsung’s new case for the S22 Ultra, pictured above. The strap made the case a little thicker, but it still fit in my back pocket, and the strap made the phone easy to grip and steady for taking videos and photos.

display & design

Samsung really nailed everything in the S22 Ultra’s display and design. No complaints.

As for brightness, the S22 Ultra hits a peak brightness of 1750 nits in Vision Booster mode, which really makes a difference against glare and bright conditions. This is an excellent feature when used in

As we mentioned in the top feature, the display is stunning and you’ll want to use the live wallpaper just to enjoy the color, depth and vibrancy of the screen every time you unlock the phone.

Both watching movies and playing games on the display were noticeably brighter, bolder, and crisper than your average smartphone, and thanks to the 6.8-inch display, it’s a great experience overall.

The design of this phone is sturdy, comfortable, elegant and eye-catching, from the rounded edges to the well-designed back cover where fingerprints are barely noticeable.

For both the front and back of the phone, Samsung uses Corning Gorilla Glass Victus and an Armor aluminum frame, giving it IP68 water and dust resistance.

I also like how Samsung has embraced the camera array. In previous phones, the array block looked and felt a little too big, but the S22 Ultra has a cleaner, simpler design. A case is highly recommended to protect everything, but the camera array only protrudes slightly.

camera

The first thing I look for in any phone is the camera, and Samsung has done a lot to improve every aspect of the images and videos you capture with the S22 Ultra.

First of all, the processor and AI offer a series of upgrades while shooting. Auto Frame Rate detects lighting changes in the scene to optimize shooting speed in frames per second, while the processor removes image and video noise to make images and videos brighter and clearer . This includes taking portraits at night.

The phone also corrects for some of the smoothest video shakes it’s ever captured, even in more challenging situations.

In every situation I shoot in, from bright to dark, the results are brighter and brighter, and the zoom is amazingly sharp, even at 30x and 100x. Optimal results are achieved with optical zoom up to about 10x, but zooming in provides sharper results than ever before, especially in sunlight.

For photographers, Expert RAW camera mode greatly improves capturing images on mobile phones, allowing you to adjust settings just like a regular camera and edit DNG files in Adobe Lightroom.

I could go on and on about the camera, photos, and video, but the bottom line is that I was impressed with every aspect. Samsung has made many strides to make the results stand out.

And as Note fans already know, the S Pen allows you to mount the S22 Ultra on a tripod or hold it in one hand and press the S Pen button to take a photo. Air Commands let you change modes and do even more without answering the phone.

battery and performance

The S22 Ultra’s 5,000mAh battery is one of the main reasons I love this phone. Thanks to the battery and 45W charging, the phone lasted him all day when charged with Samsung’s power adapter.

If gaming, taking pictures, and watching videos take up most of your day, results will vary, but if you’re doing a little bit of everything, your phone will be on all day. It held up easily with just one. charging. I’m a bit of a heavy phone user so that’s what I tend to expect some users may find the phone lasts more than his day but the bottom line is the phone’s battery expects is large enough to accommodate

Whether you’re jumping between apps, editing and printing images in Lightroom, or playing games, your phone feels fast. 8 GB of RAM goes a long way with his 4nm chip. With the overall reliability you’ve come to expect from Samsung, it’s a compelling experience for work and play.

final note

The Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra is an expensive smartphone, but it’s also very reliable, has the best features of any Android smartphone, and almost the best of any smartphone.

The only complaint I have about the S22 Ultra is that I wish it offered a microSD slot for adding external memory options. Therefore, we recommend the 256 GB or 512 GB model for especially avid photographers so that they do not run out of space.

If price is your biggest concern with a phone, the Galaxy S22 is a great alternative at a lower price point, barring some of its top-tier features.
